Very disappointed my Nilfisk has died after 2.5 years. The previous one did 15 or more.

Anyone got a recommendation for something half decent for patios, decks etc.

There's a few schools of thought you're about to see,

a) Buy a cheap one and treat it as a disposable item.

The accessories usually outlast the main unit, keep buying the same type and sell the new accessories each time.

b) Buy a Kranzle.

Beloved of detailing nerds who take the man-on-the-internet approach of wanting THE BEST, whatever that means.

c) Look at the industrial ranges from companies like Karcher.

Far less built-to-a-price, but big and heavy.

Not the entry level Karchers

The K4 range is the one I have now and am pleased with it.

They come up periodically on the Karcher site in the "refurb' returned" section with very good reductions

I got mine for sub £100, I recall - not much more than the entry level range (at usual price)

One big advantage of theK4 range is the gun hose length - 8 metres in my case

No more walking around the car carrying the body

Stihl. Bought one a couple of years ago to replace a Karcher. Night and day better. Lent it to the builder one day, he went out and bought one.

I recently purchased a cordless WORX Nitro HydroShot WG633E 20V High-Flow Cordless Portable Pressure Cleaner.

We are rural and the roads are filthy and it's great for quickly knocking off the dirt to look fairly decent without actually washing the car.

The big advantage is that there is no power cord and only a short water supply hose from a bucket is needed.

As you’re not a Nilfisk fan (ours is brilliant), I’d suggest Kranzle if you want the best or Titan if you’re on a budget.
Don't waste money on a Karcher; we had two which both failed dismally a few weeks out of warranty.

I’ve just bought a new one, I went with A, but with a twist.

Buy a cheap one you can get a convertor to use 1/4” quick release industrial accessories. They are massively cheaper than manufacturers accessories and much better performance. Then when it dies, because they all do unless you spend a fortune, you keep the same accessories.

Kranzle or grey Karcher. I have a Karcher Cage HD5/11 which is a commercial single-phase electric and it is reasonably powerful. It cleaned up fifteen years of dirty concrete footpath very easily.

We bought an AVA last month that is very impressive, with a superb guarantee.

However, I then spotted a PHer had bought a wall mounted Direct Hoses one for a lot less, and that seemed even better quality.

After years of broken Karchers, Nilfisks and one other cheapo O finally bit the bullet back in the summer and opted for petrol...........



Priced reasonably at the moment and scary amounts of power at full chat!!

Id advise against a petrol powered one. Unless you use it very regularly or use it commercially.
They are noisy, need servicing and cumbersome compared to the small electric powered units.

Go look at the direct hoses website and pick the most suitable. No need to pay kranzle prices unless your business depends on it.

I have the smallest unit they make for washing the car. Its perfect. I have a big nilfisk but that now doesn’t get used as its a big lump of a thing and the DH unit is so much lighter and convenient.

I've just bought a Master P60. Its heavy to the point I wish I'd bought a smaller unit. you can really only wheel it. The hose is quite short but it feels very sturdy and the variable lance on low pressure is good for patio work without pulling all the grout out. The high pressure one will strip cement off brick.

And then spall the brick face

1) Headphones if you must.
2) They don't need servicing.....just fixing as and when and besides this is Pistonheads we can do this
3) No more cumbersome than any Karcher I've had minus no power lead to faff about with!
