We all have them, they may not be the best films ever made, or indeed they might be, but what are your top five comfort films? Those films you put on when you're feeling down, maybe you saw them as a kid, maybe they transport you to another world for a couple of hours. I've probably got far more than five, but mine are usually the following, in no particular order:

Aliens
High Fidelity
Back to the Future
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Grosse Pointe Blank

Special mentions:

Jaws
Interstellar

In no order...movies I can put on and watch anytime.

Hot Fuzz - This is one of the best movies ever made.
Star Trek 4 - The Voyage Home - The reveal of "NCC-1701-A" gets me every time.
Any Which Way But Loose / Any Which Way You Can - The Black Widow's biker gang, need I say more.
Cars - Pixar perfection.
The Enemy Below - Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens go head to head in this awesome WW2 movie.

Odd one for sure but I always find something interesting in Chronicles of Riddick, one of those films you can start watching at any point and notice something new, just so much detail in the world they created.

Another vote for Gross Point Blank, one of the best movie soundtracks too.

Silverado - I do like a western

Muppet Christmas Carol - The definitive Christmas movie and I will hear no argument about that. I saw another version of A Christmas Carol last year and it only had one of the Marley brothers in it which seemed weird.

The Replacement Killers - Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino saving a cops kid from the Triads

Hot Fuzz - A classic

Forrest Gump.
The Gentlemen.
The Departed.
Heat.
Goodfellas.

So one silly/sweet film and 4 super violent Gangster flicks, probably a damming insight into my state of mind ha ha.
