Got to be worth a watch. I still watch the reruns every now and then, they never fail to make me laugh

"Gandhi?!"

"Yeah, he made one great film then you never saw him again."

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be watching this.

Having scoured the Freeview programme guide on our telly, I can’t find anything listed for tonight. Is it on one of the money-grabbing channels somewhere then?

U&Gold, whatever that is. Without googling I couldn't tell you if it's a streamer or a TV channel.

I presumed it would be BBC or iPlayer but guess not.

Actually that's a good point. I saw it trailed on the BBC lunchtime news, and the link is to the BBC, so I assumed it would be on a BBC channel at 9pm tonight. But it's not. I can't find it on Freeview either (though it does need retuning because they keep fking about with the channels). TV is a mess these days.

I wonder why the BBC isn't showing it? Can't afford the rights?

The BBC wholly own U&Gold, so it's a commercial decision to show it on that channel.

The U TV app is a free streaming platform isn’t it? It’ll be available via that presumably.

Well I never knew that, I always assumed these minor channels that change name every week are run by a few young chancers from a warehouse in London.

Interesting that the BBC didn't brand it 'BBC'...

There are a couple of 'U' channels in my Freeview EPG but not that one. Never mind, I'll watch Canal Boat Diaries instead!

No. U&Gold is a subscription channel.

Is the BBC not money grabbing? At least you only have to pay for UK Gold if you want to watch it.

There's the small issue of the fact we've paid a licence fee to watch BBC content. Cake + eat?

The BBC will have received fair market value for the rights to make this programme
And BBC studios will make a profit selling it around the world.
Which goes back to the BBC.

The charter prevents the BBC from fully exploiting the archive for free use on iPlayer.

I'd like to see the BBC make as much use as possible of opportunity to make money across the world. I think there's loads of potential.
