Amp & Streamer Advice
Discussion
Evening all,
I am after a bit of help on what to buy for my 1st hifi system in years!
I have pretty much settled on the Dali Oberon 3's but can't decide on what amp and streaming device to get - the main source will be streaming as I gave away my vinyl and cd's years ago.
I have a budget of between £500 and £1000 and thinking of the Wiim Pro Plus for streaming, not sure on what amp, I do like the Audiolabs and Cambridge Audio for the sleek looks but also not against a more traditional looking amp.
edited to add that I want a separate streamer and amp - I'm a bit old school!
If you have any knowledge or opinions it would be appreciated.
Cheers all

I'd look at the WiiM Amp Ultra, gives you all the streaming functionality, a nice screen and an amp (100W into 8 Ohms) all in one box. Optical in, HDMI arc, line input and even a sub output. For the money it looks like good value and the reviews are pretty good. https://www.whathifi.com/hi-fi/the-all-new-amp-ult...

Wiim Amp Ultra would be my choice at the lower end of your budget, by all accounts it sounds great, buy a small subwoofer to pair with your speakers with the rest of your budget and the Room Fit room compensation/correction is decent and will integrate the speakers/sub nicely to give you close to a full range sound.

Cheers both - should have added to my post that I want a separate amp and streamer (I'm a bit old school). If you're set on getting the WiiM streamer then this would be a good combo. I'd then consider upgrading the speakers to a pair of Wharfedale Super Dentons (or the Lintons).

Just my opinion on this but ideally you want to either have one DAC in the system or match the DACs. There aren't yet that many amplifiers out there that have a direct input (i.e bypass the DAC in the amp) and the WiiM streamer has a built in DAC, a decent one as well. The WiiM streamer and amp combo has matched DACs. But if you really want old school I would go for an all in one solution, spend a touch more and go with the NAD...it's just so 70s.
