992.1s v 992.2
Discussion
Appreciate any views or guidance as thinking of either a late 992.1 s (circa 2024 and high spec) vs 2024 992.2 (reasonable spec) - budget is £100k and I am looking for a car that I will use more than my present Boxster GTS 4 litre
It won't be a daily and I am lucky enough to have a track car so its always going to be a special car for me but I just don't seem to use the Boxster v much
Is there a big difference between how the 2 cars drive ?
thanks

I have owned a 2019 992.1 4S and also a 2024 992.1 4GTS, both fairly high specs and both absolutely fantastic cars, Both have been used as dailies and, over the period under ownership, I have driven approaching 50K miles. I am now thinking about the next change and I am leaning towards another (used) 992.1, this time a GT3 Touring. My logic being that there isn’t enough of a change in a 992.2 to warrant a much more expensive new 992.2 over and above a late model 992.1 with a good spec at a lesser cost to purchase.

From what I’ve gleaned, it depends on which models you are comparing.
I can only compare the ‘base’, and the ‘T’ and ‘S’ will be very similar - only mild changes, but nothing significant. The 6spd manual on the T might have some improvements, although the 7spd manual was pretty good.
The bigger differences will be in the GTS, which is now ‘Hybrid’, and has received quite good reviews, but is more complex, a lot heavier and ugly front cooling slats.
The 992.2 GT3 Touring does at last make some concessions to being a ‘touring’ rather than a GT3 without the rear wing. Rear seats and, we are told, a more compliant chassis - but I’d be interested to know if that’s really noticeable on UK roads.

For me one of my must haves was LED Matrix headlights, these are standard on all 992.2 cars but were an expensive option on a 992.1
For a T there's things like the rear wheel steering that are standard on the newer model as well.
You need to be checking what's standard as well as the options added.

I have a Jul 23 4 GTS and recently drove a .2 4 GTS very hard for 3 hours. Quite frankly in terms of performance I could not tell - acceleration, handling, ride, brakes, controls. To be honest since moving back from Germany a base 911 is more than enough due to speed limits and poor roads and the condition of them.
I've always got the most enjoyment out of the 911's that I use the most. One of the best I had was a 991.2 base Carrera. It was my only car and I used it daily and loved it. I'm currently running in my 992.2 GT3 and using it every day for a 100 mile commute. With some other cars I've had, I treated them like the Sunday best china, only using them very occasionally and never got quite so attached to them. I don't think there's much difference between the 992.1 an .2 for most of the models, bar the GTS. The most obvious difference is the new digital dash. Whilst I did like the old analogue rev counter, the ability to see all of the dash information is a big improvement. But one. Use it. Enjoy it.

I m tempted to get out of my Cayman GTS 4.0 (which I love) into a 992.2 T as I want the rear seats but an extra £50-55k for the change seems a lot. 992.2 T reviews seem v good though.
Exactly the same for me from a GT4. Haven't quite got the man maths to work yet, but I'm sure a few drinks over the festive period will help me on my way!
We went 718GT4 > 992.1T > 992.2T . Very happy with each step. Can’t say I really missed the N/A in the GT4 as the turbo performance in the T is more accessible more of the time.
Driving changes from .1 to .2 more nuanced. Feels slightly quicker, and is significantly louder (that’s a positive in my book). Is it a better drive than the .1? Yes, but by a tiny margin. Is it really worth the price hike over a .1? Probably not.
Our decision to change was more the fact we wanted a Cab, and got offered an amazing deal on a .2.
