I've just posted the annual update on the maintenance costs and reliability covering the 10 McLaren's we have owned over the past dozen years. I have always tried to be quite religious with annual services, which I’m sure has helped finance better lives for quite a few very talented mechanics. In addition, any issues that come to light during these annual pilgrimages to the service center get taken care of right away. My philosophy has always been that small problems only grow into big problems, and it is much less expensive to take care of things immediately than to wait. I do believe this has been a contributor to the very low level of reliability issues we have had across all the cars. Probably the one item I am most impressed by is the fact that none of the McLarens have ever left us stranded.

Great read, thanks.

Just out of interest (I cant remember) Did you purchase extended manufacture warranties on your cars or run without? I assume as you had no issues you decided (Like I have) that a warranty is not necessary as the super series cars are pretty reliable?

Its crazy that a Senna can be run for similar costs to a 12C. Its a junior hyper-car and also available in RHD with no hybrid systems. I can't believe its not more appreciated, especially in the UK, where there are no RHD hyper-cars available (unless you have Pagani / Koenigsegg money)

I have never purchased the extended warranties.

Really enjoyed the read and great insight into long term ownership!

Costs against the RRP seems in my opinion in-line with expectations.
