I have just stumbled across another thread detailing the interior of a xenon lamp fitted headlight can be dirty on the lenses. Has anyone ever done this with an L322? Is it possible? Feel like my headlights are rubbish in the dark of late despite replacing bulbs.....

It may be that the projector itself has degraded. They can be replaced by a few businesses in the UK. I’m currently going through a similar process with my 2004 xenons.

Sorry I can’t help with the direct question..

It's possible, but requires a more convoluted strip-down to get access to the projector lens than the Z4 does.

The other alternative is to partially dismantle it and then use a long swab with a cotton bud (or other absorbent material) securely attached to poke through the hole where the bulb sits and wipe it that way.

Mine (Z4MC) only looked slightly grey from the outside, but the cloth came out absolutely black.

If you want fancy ones of mutliple sizes, then these are suitable (I use something similar for cleaning my inkjet printers):
If you're happy with ones with less 'swab' on them, then any cheap wooden/bamboo/plastic swab will suffice, for example:

Well I can confirm it is worth doing - utilizing a long swab type thingy and some isopropanol the lenses have come up much clearer and light output is improved. A worthwhile hours time spent......

thanks for all the tips chaps!

Just remember to store the swabs/alcohol somewhere safe for the next 5 years, so you can repeat the process 😉

Thanks - just feel pretty thick having not taken some before and afters. If not for me, but for anyone else considering it! It is just a glass lense at the end of the day - even if the headlight unit is about £600 ea from LR.

Sod that for a game of soldiers......
