After the toilet paper post and a suggestion that someone collects it, I wondered if others had 'odd' collections.

For a while (indeed my ex-wife may still have maintained it after I left) I had a collection of those little posters people put up on lamp posts when they lose their cat. Perhaps that is why she is the ex wife?

I used to have little 'vials' of dirt, from all the places I'd been to... I got rid of it when I realised it was a silly thing to do!

I used to collect £2 coins in a 35mm film case - perfect fit!

Then I realised it was silly and spent them

Hey, you weren't a litle fat unemployed guy with a bead in 1991 were you? I met a guy who did exactly that 'because they fit'.

Dad has a collection of Zippo lighters.

IIRC of the 300+ only about 4 have ever been used.

He has them from all over the world and some are parts of very limited collections.

I have added to the collection whenever I have been abroad as have a lot of the guys from TVR.

Seems a bit surreal to have all these lighters now he has lung cancer.

My late father smoked 20 a day for 40 years.

When the oncologist came to tell Dad that he had intestinal cancer, he ended the conversation thus:

"Well, you may be pleased to hear that it's not related to your smoking..."

Dad laughed all the way to the operating theatre....

Many of my wife's customers collect Betty Boop merchandise, which is a bit lucky since that is what she sells.

Bullets (most deactivated) and other weaponry.

also scale model aircraft and cars, though I'm not really serious about either.

Oh and I try to collect knowledge where possible if you can consider that collecting, hard to retain it all though.

If you are a Geologist, then this is kind of understandable.

If however you are not, and you are have vials of dirt from all the places you visit, I shudder to think what you brought back from the Gents at Scratchwood Services....
