Google AI says 'The Bosch Series 4 CMA583MS0B combination microwave defaults to a 900 W power setting when the microwave function is initially selected.'

Not sure i trust that.
Bosch custom mer service thinks 600w but aren't sure.

Hence asking for first hand experience.

If you go to the first link on Google for the model number, you get the product page which also includes the manual.

https://media3.bsh-group.com/Documents/9001610640_...

I think most microwaves tend to default to the rated capacity which is usually visivle on the front of the machine.

Fair point. If it's not mentioned in the manual I would just press the button for the power I want.

The manual literally says 900w. You dont really get 600w microwaves these days

"The Bosch Series 4 CMA583MS0B microwave defaults to 900 Watts (PL10) when you first select the microwave function, but you can easily change this by entering your desired cooking time, pressing the Power Level button, and selecting a lower power"

Are you considering buying one or moving in somewhere that has one?

All* microwaves only have a single power rating, which is what they default to. The lower power ratings are acheived by turning the magnetron on and off in cycles. In some of the microwave ovens I've had, you can hear the power cycling on and off.

* Ok, there might be some daft commerical thing out there with 2 magentrons, but in general....

Our Siemens combo steam oven / microwave definately defaults to a lower power around 350w from memory. Siemens is of course the same manufacturer as Bosch.

You have to turn it up to 600w or 800w every time. The really annoying thing is at either of the top two power settings it then turns on some conventional heat elements on top to avoid too much moisture build up. Which seams really odd as it as a steam oven too!

Had to read the manual carefully to figure that out. Initially I was baffled as to why when I ran a 800w microwave it was drawing 3x that when I checked on the inverter output of my solar/battery setup. Was somewhat dissapointed when I figured that out as I had bought it as a does everything device only to find out I now don t like using the microwave feature due to the overkill power use.

So yes, RTFM most definately does apply before purchase!
