Nice image there.

Can I ask a question about the flash?

I've just bought the 430ex for use on my 20d, i've noticed that on flash LCD the focal length doesn't always match that of the lens.

My 17-40 can be set on 40mm and the flash will show 35mm, also if I have the ef-s60 on the display only shows 50mm

Scrolling through the zoom lengths on the display doesn't seem to have a 40 and 60 setting.

Would you mind checking yours?

Suspect its the same as my old 430EZ, lengths only correspond to next widest prime length. The 430EZ does 24mm,28,35,50,70 then stops at a maximum of 80.

It must be similar then, the only other length I see when scrolling through the LCD options is 105mm and if the wide panel is used the option for 14mm pops up.

Now I need to start worrying about under exposing now because the flash thinks it's at a smaller focal length

I really don't think 35mm vs 40mm is going to make much difference; that's only the zoom head. The electronics should still calculate the correct exposure assuming it's like a Nikon that is!

It won't, apart from with it setting at 35mm it will "waste" some of the flash power. However, that can give a softer edge, so sometimes on my 550EX () I manually overide the zoom to spread it out a bit further to get more reflections off the surrounding objects.

Some days I really really hate you.

(but mostly I just sit in awe of some of your shots!)
