Good evening, I am looking for advice as i have just bought the four pot ap racing brakes and alloy hubs off a cerbie , for my 5 litre chimarea ,off ebay (second hand) thinking that the two cars were mechanically quite similar. While it doesn't look like there is a problem at the top joint, the bottom one looks like it could be problematic and not top mention the steering rack connection has anyone tried this before? or has any adapter been made at all, any guidance gratefully recieved? cheers bhpjon

Hi Jon , I looked at this a while ago and it is extremely difficult . There is a steel arm that bolts to the bottom of the hub that I do not believe you have .It has the bottom ball joint and trackrod end bolted to it. You wiuld have to get one made for the smaller ball joints on the griff and a large vertical offset to put the trackrod at the right height , this is not even taking into account the hub offset and kingpin inclination differences ( if there are any )I think your best option is to convert your own hubs to five stud or get a four stud disc and get an adapter to fit the ap caliper (or possibly re-drill the cerbera discs )Hope this ha not put you off to much , David

Are you just after a brake upgrade, or do you have some other reason for doing this? Since the suspension is significantly different between the two cars I wouldn't assume anything will just transfer straight over, so this is going to be a bit of a job. If your only after this for the brake upgrade, you might be better off going for a conventional upgrade designed for the hubs you have.

So fairly straight forward then guys????? the main reasons for wanting to do this are for the larger brakes but also the five studs for the 17 or 18" conversion for the wheels. I have emailed the yard where i bought them so hopefully i can get the bottom plate for the track rod end and bottom joint. If i cant get the hubs to fit, can i get an adapter to take the brakes into the new postion (while getting the hubs redrilled as well)from the standard hub? cheers guys bhpjon

It is worse than that. The steering geometry is wrong for a start and the only time it has been done required a LHD rack to be used upside down. While anything can be done given enought time, money etc etc this is a conversion that is a waste of time. The brakes can be made to fit with the right adapater but the hubs are a no no.
