So what's everyone's cycling aims for the next 12 months?

I'm going to be officially mid 40s soon, so I count that as been a bit wiser in the last year I've realised:

  • I love my eBikes
  • I cannot be bothered with the whole FTP obsession
  • Indoor cycling is much safer way to get cardio done when the temperature drops to near zero

I've also managed to not fall of the bike in 2025, so coming up to 24 months since the last time I kissed tarmac.

The main aim for next year is to follow the N+1 teachings (probably via salary sacrifice) and get my daughter confident enough to ride on the road so we can do some proper weekend rides.

Happy Xmas all!!

Used to do 5k a year, dropped to zero.

Ambition is to get back to regular cycling. Have ordered a new Winter bike on C2W, got some Sigma vouchers for Xmas so looking forward to getting going again.

Have looked at a few foreign events but I think I'll get my base fitness back and then look at something in 2027.

I'm tempted by one of these pair. The Canyon is marginally cheaper but isn't available on our C2W scheme, the Scott is only just out so I think will make it on to the scheme, either would make 2026 a more interesting cycling year smile.

I had a health scare at the end of this year which stopped any exercise so in 2026 I’ll be happy just to get back on the bike.

I’ve just moved house to Lancashire so I’m looking forward to exploring the Trough of Bowland with a view to being fit enough to continue CX racing in the autumn.

I managed over 10k miles this year, mostly commuting, so want to match that in 2026.

I'm also planning to ride the the 2026 RTTS again https://www.ridetothesun.co.uk/

I'd also like to do something on the continent this year as have been promising myself that for years. I bought a small van for transporting the bike and potentially camping in so am planning to take the euro tunnel and go ride Flanders and Alpe d'Huez. If I can time it to be there during the TDF that would be the icing on the cake.

Looking to keep up the momentum from this year, so a minimum of 10000km. No Belgium trip this year but looking to do Petit Tour de Manche over 2 nights on gravel bikes in the late spring.

Have entered Beast to the East 100 mile sportive from Swanmore in May too. Don't normally do them but moved a running entry to their only cycling event when I realised I wasn't really that keen on running. Aiming for 6x100 mile rides this year, so this will be one.

Otherwise, not really sure. Continue Zwift racing each week, help to keep improving my racing score, which is about 460 at the moment. Hopefully drop another 5kg too, taking me to around 85kg.

Happy cycling everyone.

Ive signed up to do the London to Brighton Off Road ride in aid of the BHF, after having to defer doing it this year, after having a heart attack while on a practice ride lol

Hi everyone,

I've just over 8,000km cycled and 2k run, and would be happy with the same again with no injuries.

I cycled through Holland and Belgium last year and would love to go back to Belgium. My new favourite cycling country.

I've not been to BPWales for ages (I even enjoyed a Sat night out in Merthyr Tidval!) - as it evolves is it still good/worth it? Last time I went was 5yrs ago.

Nothing overly ambitious on the MTB. A ride in N Wales once per week (mainly Llandegla) and some local bridleways etc in between.
