In the spirit if Christmas I like tipping the postman, bin collectors etc. but I’ve a problem, the ones I like and know are on holiday. Should I tip the strangers? Obviously I’m not losing sleep over this question but I’ve notes burning a hole in my pocket and annoyed that I’ve missed the opportunity to give them to the regulars. Would you tip the strangers instead?

I want to give the money to those that have helped me and we have a very good post man. Would not feel right giving it to someone I don’t know. First world problems so telling me to wise up is fine too. Just the thoughts going through my head as annoyed I didn’t get the tip to the post man. There’s always new year.

No. The strangers will assume the regular postie got something. Just wait until NY when they're back.

Just wait till you see them in the new year? I’m sure they’ll appreciate a tip in January when they’ve spent all their money anyway

Defo hang back to tip the postie. You don't want to be tipping the Christmas casual.

Is tipping the postman a thing? Mine knocked on the door yesterday with a parcel and was hovering around like a waiter and I thought on shutting the door he looked like he wanted a tip.

Neighbour (a lady) gives bin men bottles of alcohol, in the week running up to the Christmas.

I just keep the money on the window sill and wait until I interact with them, might be march time, but it’s the spirit of it

Young Asda guy was very pleased as was the evri guy , sadly I can’t give much but it’s all a bonus for them

I did wonder why the postman was so friendly when I happened to see him on the drive this week.

We are in the same boat and will wait for our "usual" postie to give him the tip

Prepare as much of the food as you can the day before. Less to cram into Christmas morning.
