2026 bucket/To do list
Discussion
So then guys, what's your plans for 2026?
Really need to get some motivation and get something planned. This year I sorted a trip to Spain for 10 people in which we rode around the mountains on endurance bikes..
Some things im thinking of, is either some kind of bike tour in Slovenia, endurance riding in the mountains of Romania and buy a few monkey bikes and do a crazy uk road trip..
Let's see yours!

The first bike bike related event will be picking up my made-to-measure textile suit from Hideout in February. I've wanted a M2M textile suit for a very long time and this, with my BKS leathers, which the textile suit will zip to, will give me a full set of M2M bike gear.
The highlight of my biking year will be the Old Gits trip to the Dolomites. 24 of us will take to the numerous passes and stunning roads for a week in June. Only 164 sleeps to go!
In early May, Mrs k1 and I, with some friends, will do another long weekend WW1 sites tour of Northern France, visiting the locations we missed on our 2025 trip.
Beyond that, it'll be a few local runs, possibly another weekend raid on Wales and helping my youngest son get his ER650 back on the road.

Bruce Pollard Rally in Snowdonia 2nd weekend of February
Dragon Rally in Snowdonia the night after that
Not sure which bike I'll take but plan to do the usual of exploring the roads and have a quiet night rather than sat there getting pissed like most of the others. I just hope the Dragon is in a more interesting place than the boring Estate in Bangor again.
I also need a push to get the IAM test finished as I'm being mucked about with it and I'll lose interest again if I'm not careful.
Have to take SWMBO away (non biking) before I can get any euro trips in so It may only be a shortish 4 day one this year (thinking Verdun this time).

Our little group will be off into Europe again at the end of May. This time we're doing a two week trip to Slovenia via some of the best roads in Germany and Austria and then back through either Italy and the French Alps or up through Austria and Czechia. For the last 15years we've set off mid June over the summer solstice but for 2026 we're heading off earlier to try and avoid some of the crazy summer temperatures in Europe. Last years trip was in mid June and saw us riding in the high 30's/low 40's which is crazy.
In the summer I'm organising a memorial ride and camping weekend to remember & celebrate the life of my life long bestie who like so many others was sadly taken way to early.
Given the ban, surprisingly, the annual Nürburgring Motorcyclists' Mass 'Rev Up' (Anlassen) is still scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, serving as the traditional season kick-off with thousands of bikers and a massive parade lap around the Nordschleife. If the weather's good it's a great excuse for a weekend in Germany as the riding around the region is second to none so we will probably do our annual pilgrimage and head over.

any reason you didn't go to BKS as you have their suit? The highlight of my biking year will be the Old Gits trip to the Dolomites. 24 of us will take to the numerous passes and stunning roads for a week in June. Only 164 sleeps to go!

i had one done a few years ago, still use the salopettes – they should be a biking staple; but I don’t use the jacket any longer changed shape (for the better) doesn’t fit across the shoulders
I’ll be doing a couple of 121 courses - read a lot so thought i would give them a go
Modest ambitions for me, I’m afraid.
1. Weekend in Wales at some point in April/May, if I can get a weather window. Gonna be last minute but I want to do 3 days following roughly the Cycle World route (Chris on the Ninja 1100SX).
2. UK track day in the dry. Preferably Donington. I have some unfinished business there!
3. Sunday morning rides. Get up early and get out there. Ride to some new places. Meet fellow bikers and make new friends.
4. Off road. This is the big one. I want to do the TET in 2027, so an off road school to learn the basics. I do MTB but never ridden a motorcycle off road, but am keen to learn.

My wife had Kate at Hideout make her a suit and we were both really impressed. That, and the fact that Hideout will do a full suit with all the extras, and including an additional vented jacket (no armour), for the same as a BKS textile suit and they're only 40mins drive rather than 5 hours drive, made the decision for me.i had one done a few years ago, still use the salopettes they should be a biking staple; but I don t use the jacket any longer changed shape (for the better) doesn t fit across the shoulders

After coming back to biking in 2025 (and finally doing the TT after wanting to for about 25 years!), 2026 is the turn of the trip to Europe :-) Off to the Vosges via the Black Forest in June :-)
I've also checked my shift pattern for BSB, WSBK, Moto GP weekends and hoping to tick Brands Hatch off the circuits visited list and WSBK at Donington falls on a weekend off too.
Other than that, it will be plenty more day rides in North/Mid Wales and the Peak District.

That sounds like fun. I hope you have a great time.
Ferry to Santander booked on 1st May for me & a mate, returning from Caen 9th May. Hopefully 2/3 days in the Pyrenees & then up through Massif Central, but we'll go where the weather is decent.
Hopefully a weekend or two away in this country with Mrs B on pillion. Have done a few track days in Folembray over the last few years, but sadly my local garage that organised the trips - Reiten Motorrad - has closed so no more.

Some of the "modest" ambitions people are listing are pretty bloody impressive!

- Training: Got IAM NO last year, would like Masters in the next few months and progress SDI.
- Touring: Ferries to Santander and back through Caen booked for June, Portugal beckons. Would like to get a couple of long weekends sorted, preferably involving the wife.
- Leisure: After a couple of years where biking has had to take a back seat I'd like to get out more, especially on my old Yam.
- Purchases: Keeping the main bike for another season, but I would like a testride on the CB1000GT and S1000XR. Airbag would be good.
- Trackday: Maybe this year? I need to stop being such a pussy.
