In a 992 is the upgrade to Burmeister from the standard Bose system worth the extra cost. I would be interested to know your thoughts please

Given the tyre roar and road noise I’d be amazed if it’s a worthwhile upgrade, unless you spend a lot of time in traffic! Happy to be corrected, though.

Bose is ok. Powerful but lacks mid-range IMHO. Haven't done a side-by-side but could only imagine it is quite a notch up on it otherwise.

I have Bose, but rarely use it, fine when driving in town traffic. Burmeister is an improvement ( I have borrowed a 992.2 with Burmeister) , but I would not go for the upgrade, I could not justify the additional expense

I have Bose in my Pana and Burmester in the Cayenne - there is a big difference especially on something like classical music - evidently a lot less if all you need ic contemporary music at low volume. It is a fairly expensive upgrade and the reason I did it is I often do long distance solo drives .

I have had and lived with, Bose in a 992 C4S and Burmeister in a 992 Turbo S. In short, no, the Bose is near as good but for far less money. The Burmeister struggles, (like the Bose to be fair), to overcome the cabin noise.

If you really want good sound the only way is to pay around £3k/£4k + and have a company fit better speakers. The best I have heard in a 992, are the Focals that were made as a direct fit for a 992. But new they are pricy, (more than the Burmeister). Hunt some down used, (I did) and they are a very significant improvement over both Bose and Burmeister. However, to really make them sing you need an amp and then you are into major electronic modifications and warranty issues. You pays your money and makes your choice. (‘d swap the speakers and used the inbuilt Bose amp if it was me).

I have also had Bose in Cayenne and Taycan. The Taycan install was actually by far the best version I have heard in any car.

I've had standard, Bose and Burmeister in Porsches.

Standard - Alright. Nothing to write home about. Does the job.

Bose - Fine if you're 17 and want to play Bassline Bangers 2025. Otherwise dreadful.

Burmeister - I don't think it could ever have worked correctly. It was nothing special and, listening to radio, it had a weird side tone / echo.

Had Bose in various Porsche’s including 992.1 & .2.

Slightly disappointed so far in the .2, doesn’t seem to have the same oomph as the .1.

As for Burmeister. Only listened to it for an hour in a 992.2 Carrera demo we borrowed. Definitely superior to Bose (even my wife who isn’t interested in such things commented how good it sounded v Bose).

However, is it worth 3.5x the price, not in my opinion.
