I’m in market for a 2-3 year old Macan S and the options list is a little bewildering so hoped I could hear from current/past owners on what the must have kit is?

I’ve identified I want the following as a minimum

- BOSE/Burmiester
- Pano roof
- Best park assist option
- Extended leather
- Adaptive cruise (not must have)

What else do I want? I see there are chrono packages and also a premium package - are these worth doing, heated front screen I’d love? Air suspension is on some cars, would thid make London driving more or less tolerable?

I’m not a fan of leather, I much prefer alcantara or Porsche’s own version Race Tex. If I were in the market I’d probably be looking for a GTS variant. They usually come with more of the desirable options, of which there are many.

I have a young kid so dark leather easier to maintain. If it were just me I’d probably get the GTS, but my wife has only ever driven low powered cars so think 450bhp may be a bit OTT, and the stiffness of the ride may not be too pleasant in London?

I have a GTS in London. Despite the terrible roads it's fine as it has air suspension, so don't let that element put you off

They're great city cars as they manage the many many speed bumps really well

Best of luck with the search

Your list includes most of the popular options.
- The 18 way Adaptive Sports Seats are very nice
- The Surround Camera is very useful
- Air Suspension with PASM and 20” wheels would be my ‘must have’ on UK roads

Ok thank you.

Adaptive cruise seems quite rare so maybe I’ll make do with standard. The air suspension I can seek out then. Annoyingly my wife doesn’t like Gentian Blue which knocks out maybe 20-30% of stock. Eyes are open.

Should I buy finance to get the best deal (then settle it). Is that still how these places work?

Don’t ignore active cruise until tried it, can’t have a car without it now, especially when in nose to tail stuff

Air suspension. I really dont like the standard/PASM stuff on Macans.

It’s tricky buying used because you need to find an example that ticks all the right boxes - and we all have different tastes.

The Air Suspension is an interesting one.
It definitely improves the ride and handling, and adds the versatility of being able to lower or raise the car, but very many buyers don’t spec it, despite its relatively modest cost.

So, finding one with Air might be more difficult, although definitely worth it.

They are, or rather they hold their money fairly well. I’m looking to spend ideally 60k or less and most cars of that price are 2.5-3 years old with <20k on clock and retailed at about 80.

You might struggle to find a used car with all those options you desire in an acceptable colour.

I certainly did, ended up with a passive suspension car on bigger wheels than i wanted, but all the other boxes ticked. Ordered some smaller wheels (19s) on winters, and strangely i am finding the standard suspension sufficiently plush even on the supplied 21in Turbo wheels, and on our crappy UK roads. On the smaller wheels and winter tyres i doubt i’ll miss air suspension.

I had all those on my wish list plus air suspension and when I bought mine there were only 2 used cars available in the uk with that spec ,bizarrely one was in Aberdeen and the other 4 miles from my house .
The air is a very very nice option to have and worth seeking out imo.

I ve also got a GTS and live in London.

I agree with the comments about air suspension - it’s superb and would be a definite must have if I was buying an S. The air suspension on the GTS is actually slightly firmer than the air suspension available on the S, however there is an option to spec the ‘softer’ air suspension from the S on the GTS (I went down this route)

A few other thoughts:

The Pano roof is nice, but you don t really notice it as a driver - rear passengers think it s great.

I specced ACC but don t really use it and probably wouldn t spec again.

BOSE is very good.

The one option I would recommend is Power Steering Plus - I hadn’t really considered this option when I specced my car but it was fitted on the car I test drove and I thought it was fantastic. It makes manoeuvring and parking very easy.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Either I’ve got the filter set too tight or there’s just bigger all supply, two cars added to AUC site since I opened my search that fitted the bill.

Just out of curiosity, what’s your budget?
My girlfriend was also looking for a 2 year old macan, but for a very small increase in budget and a reasonable discount from the AD got a brand new T .
Apparently Ts come with quite a few options as standard,so may be worth investigating .

Wouldn’t have a daily without it. On modern roads with modern speed limits/enforcement it’s a must for me. Drove 650 miles yesterday, makes a huge difference for me on a journey like that.

I’d want the v6 engine as a minimum

Think he said "60k or less" above somewhere. How good is the T to drive? When I was looking at Macans, the T with the GTI engine didn't seem to get rave reviews and fuel economy was shocking because it needed its neck ringing everywhere?

Same here. A mate specced a Macan two years ago and I advised him to add ACC - he did although somewhat reluctantly. Of course now he thinks ACC the best thing since sliced bread and thanks me for urging him to add it every time I see him in the car :-)

The scandal is that its an optional extra.
