Continental Kombi valve
Discussion
Not for the first time, my Bentley Continental has come back from Bentley not working correctly. They also damaged the car, but that is another story. As soon as it got back I had to call the AA when an engine light came on. The car was also throwing up all manner of warning messages and the soft-close doors didn't work, a bit like a low battery issue.
The last time I had problems, they swore blind it was nothing they had done. Until it was proved that it was definitely something they had done. I am therefore wary in the extreme, when the car has been 100% perfect all year, until they serviced it.
They have had it back and diagnosed a sticking kombi valve or secondary air injection valve - "definitely nothing we've done Mr Furbo".
I am clearly extremely unlucky that my car has broken twice at the exact time when they have been working on it....
Assuming their diagnoses is correct, DAK if there is any way they COULD have buggered it up as part of a routine service.

What year is your Continental?
SAI can throw an error code, (yellow MIL) just for the valve being lazy...
Do you have access to a VCDS?
2015 and no, I don't have access to it.SAI can throw an error code, (yellow MIL) just for the valve being lazy...

I have a suspicion that they allowed the battery(ies) to run down whilst it was with them. Could that cause the error?

It can cause a lot of errors, trouble is once the errors posted it usually won't clear the MIL unless it's reset via VCDS. (Some generic readers will reset, but you won't get a genuine code off those to check...)
The AA cleared it. But Bentley tells me it's showing as pending again. It's not mission critical at this stage, more annoying than anything.
You may find with regular use the issue goes away.
I know on my 2010 that turning ignition to ON and then waiting for c30 seconds seems to have cured it, this ties in to allowing all the self testing & initialisation to complete before starting. The fail condition is so marginal on the SAI valve that it can be triggered simply by it being a bit lethargic. (Again, more regular use seems to mitigate it entirely)

Thanks Brett. Think I will have the car back and, if it does it again, get an indi to resolve it. I am becoming annoyed with Bentley's "wasn't us Guv" attitude, even when their finger prints are all over something. You may find with regular use the issue goes away.

I may also get a code reader. But the last one I bought would not work with the Bentley. Need to research.
This is the one I got after several recommendations:
Ross-Tech VCDS HEX-V2 USB interface with 2x2 adaptor, 3m USB extension, USB memory stick and case https://share.google/mRWvThIEN0ns0VE2s
Can't fault it really.
