Tuscan mk1 power steering flexi hoses
Discussion
My flexi hoses are starting to weep so I'd like to change them this year. Unfortunately, Motaclan aren't committing to restocking these so I may have to go to a local hydraulic hose repairer. Just so I know what spec I need can someone please confirm the specification? Are they:
1/4" BSP 90 degrees swept elbow female
to
1/4" banjo with M16 bolt
for both lines.

I've seen a power steering company sell hardline replacements for around £100. Has anyone fitted these? They look like they'd need some manipulation to fit into the cramped space available.

Hi Dalamar I have a new set of the 'TVR Tuscan Hose Kit Power Steering (TVR H0672)' sat in my garage for future use as mine are quite coroded, but not leaking yet.
There is a similar 3rd hose from the rack to the pump which I couldn't even find listed on Motaclan that I had to replace so made my own.
Specs for the rack hoses:
M14x1.5 banjo to 7/16-20 female 90deg elbow.
I initially tried Pirtek before I made my own but the 90deg elbows were alot more chunky than the factory ones so didn't work with the restricted space under the chassis and prices were alot more than Motaclan...

Thank you. That'll be helpful when I speak to the local shops. I'll keep pestering Motaclan too. There is a similar 3rd hose from the rack to the pump which I couldn't even find listed on Motaclan that I had to replace so made my own.

Could you please confirm that the adapter that connects to the elbow is M14 x 1.5mm too? I imagine it would be. There is a similar 3rd hose from the rack to the pump which I couldn't even find listed on Motaclan that I had to replace so made my own.

I'm thinking of making up my own hard lines instead of buying new flexi hoses.

I've replaced my hoses now using the ones supplied by Motaclan. Fixed my leaks but there was one thing to note. When I was supplied the hoses the fitting orientations were 90 degrees out to my original hoses. I contacted Martin at Motaclan and he reassured me that it was OK to put the banjo fittings in the vice, while protecting the sealing faces, and with a pair of grips gently rotate the compressed fitting. This is OK and the fitting has a PTFE inner.
I did this using my originals as a pattern and they fitted fine in the end. Access is tight to the fittings at the pinion housing end but doable by reaching through the driver's side wheel arch.
Pictures below showing the original vs new Motaclan hoses.
