2019 VW Golf GTI

Bit of background - the car was purchased in June 2023. It has been used as my only car since then covering approx. 20K miles per year. The plan this year is to retire it to summer/weekend car status.
Car was bought on 24K miles, it's now showing 78K miles.
I don't have a garage, however a family member has one they don't use much so I'm hoping to get use of that.
Also I'll obviously need to buy a new daily driver. Prior to this GTI I owned 3 VW group 2l tdi hatchbacks so the obvious choice is to revert to that. Maybe also consider something with the 1.4 petrol ACT engine.
I'm just thinking out loud the now, hopefully this plan will take shape this year.

I made the decision early on I wanted 3dr and manual. Buying one was a lot harder than I expected. The post COVID prices were very strong and examples were being snapped up as soon as they were advertised.
The car came with the VW approved used benefits which came in handy. Two coolant leaks were sorted under warranty. The aircon was also 'fixed' twice but it's now not working again.
I tried to keep the original diamond cut wheels good but I hasn't worked out. Despite running separate winter wheels, they are showing the usual diamond cut corrosion. I'm not going to bother refurbing them, I've got a set of non diamond cut 18" OEM wheels which I'll fit in the spring.

I have a similar golf that I don t like using for commuting, so I bought a Seal Leon Tdi 150. So pleased I did. It isn t as good as the golf for any respect. But it s a good work-horse; plus it makes the golf feel even more special.
Edit- I think I could get away with a 120bhp commuter car. So maybe an 1.6 Tdi next time. Any less might be painful.

I had always been a wee bit disappointed with the way the Golf sounded. There was a boomy resonance at about 2800-3000 rpm and above 5000rpm the noise was sometimes quite unpleasant.
What baffled me was it wasn't consistent, cold weather seemed to make it worse.
I knew about the fake noise 'soundaktor' but I wrongly assumed this was only active in sports mode. Turns out it was active in normal mode too.
I disabled the soundaktor with vcds yesterday and pleased to say the annoying noises are gone.

My Golf R is booked in there for some servicing work in a few weeks
Its had gearbox, bevel box, haldex and rear dif oils done there already.
Going in for haldex again, asking for a sump off service and inspection along with a pre tuning health check.
I have been changing the oil every 3k. its about to turn 70k miles
