Want a second TV...best multi room setup? Sky or different?
Discussion
We're nearly finished on a kitchen refurb and want a TV in there. We've got quite a big house, but have only even had one TV in the living room, which is on a Sky Q box. We only bother with a basic package (not fussed about movies/sport). We do have the usual Prime/Apple/Netflix subscriptions.
What's the best way to get live and streaming content to the kitchen TV? There are no aerial sockets or router near it but there is good wifi. Is it just an additional Sky box which is needed, and will WiFi suffice?
Or is there a better way? I've not yet bought the TV, is there anything specific I need to look for apart from the usual 4k LG/Samsung offering?
I'm familiar with Firesticks, but they are a bit of a faff...

Most TVs will have all the apps for the streaming services if that is all you want. My Samsung has Samsung TV Plus which is their own platform of channels, but it is mostly old programmes on repeat. I am not familiar with other brands.
Sky Q Mini is good if you want to access recordings on the main box, or indeed any of the same channels. It also has the same streaming apps as the main box.
Bare in mind however that Sky Q is an odd beast in terms of wifi. If you have Sky Broadband equipment it will connect to that wifi no problems, but if you have a different supplier it cannot use that. It will instead connect back directly to the main Q box. So you have to be confident it is in range.
If the Q Mini it is out of range I have a work around I used myself for non Sky wifi which I can outline but it needs a bit of extra kit and some setup.
