I have a double outdoor waterproof socket on our chicken house. Recently got a new auto chicken door and some lights. Both have plugs that are too big to allow the lid to be closed and so it can’t be weatherproofed with anything plugged in.

I realise I could buy a separate enclosure and run an extension to it but for the sake of neatness I’d rather just replace the existing socket with a roomier one. Anyone know if such a thing exists? I’m not finding much on the google.

Maybe utilise one of these, bought one recently for the Christmas lights outside.

Cheers both. Those look like they're effectively another box that I would run an extension cable to from the existing socket? That's what I was getting at as my backup option but I'm not mad keen as the area this stuff is is quite visible so I was trying to keep it all a little tidier if possible. If there is nothing else out there though, I'll go for something along those lines.

Yeap, same as above, that what I did to power some low voltage garden lights. Mounted the box below the outside socket enclosure and ran an extension lead from the latter to the former. The box has silicone grommets and a drip loop won't hurt either.

I was after the same thing as you but unfortunately couldn't find such a product in time.

Why not just cut the bulky plugs off th devices and wire on a new regular sized plug?

They’re both transformers.

I have a similar problem, I considered building a little roof or enclosure for it. I haven t bothered and just left the flap open. It's been okay for the last few years, nothing fused.

ETA you could probably modify something like this to sit over your existing socket.

Cheers Huzzah. I guess that could be an option. I need to get out there with a tape measure as there isn't that much space to attach something. The sub zero temperatures are causing a certain amount of procrastination!

Cheers. I found that one but I need a double frown

I’m amazed it’s so tricky to find this I must admit.

I believe, you could change the existing socket to a Wiska box. You could then run 2 of those units off it.

Can you just put two of these side by side and wire them in together?

Cheers. Yep, certainly an option.

Amazing that no one sells a double socket with the additional room for transformers. I'd definitely buy one to get rid of the big weatherproof box linked to earlier
