Alpina are officially part of BMW.

According to an employee at Alpina UK that I spoke to they'll be making 7 Series-based Maybach alternatives, but time will tell.

A sad, sad time.

I had an E46 B3 - the interior leather and twiddly bits were ace, as was the Alpina stuff outside. Lovely engine and suspension - it all felt very different from an M3 or standard 3 series.
Expensive to do though - so the later E90 D3 were all banged out as identical cars with (from memory) a huge extra charge to add any options.
Can’t see Alpina leather and multiple stitching options being available going forward - I agree it’s more likely to become a badge option.
Last of the line proper Alpinas will definitely hold their value. Very sad.

Yeah it's amazing how spartan some of the E90 D3s were!

They were all fixed spec to come in at £500 more than a 320d M Sport. ALPINA wanted to corner more of the company car market here, hence the reasoning for it. If you wanted to unlock the spec to add any options it was £1,500! I remember they had a couple of things that could be added without that, like a ‘lux’ pack.
