LED Strips in a Bathroom
Discussion
Are you using a stripper in the bathroom?
I can only dream of having one, maybe in overalls but honestly seeo only LED stripping being my option.
It looks to offer some decent lighting options while I have the chance to plumb in at first fix.
The room will have two downlight (possibly 3 if its not enough), it's 1.5x2.7m.
Questions on this;
Have you recessed in a tiled bathroom or have you gone with easier options like under/around cabinets for ambient looks?
I was thinking of two downlight in the middle, then a strip around the top edge of tiles, but...I see that being problematic when they eventually go wrong as I'd need to recess in the tile, run the cable through at a point etc.

In bathrooms I’ve found LED strips work best under vanity units, behind mirrors, or on top of cabinets rather than recessed into tiles. Much easier to fit and replace later. Two or three downlights should cover the main lighting, then use the strip purely for soft ambient light. Recessing into tiles looks nice, but maintenance can be a real headache down the line.

Yes thats what im seeing, even in Niches it's going to go wrong sooner rather than later . Mirror will have a surround light on it as well so I might not even bother.
If it's the stuff in the extrusions it's usually possible to just pull the LED strip out & replace it. It's only double sided tape holding it.
The harder part is if the driver module is buried somewhere you can't get at it. Or getting the covers to unclip.
Where it would get tricky is anything that's permanently assembled/sealed as a closed unit but there's plenty that aren't.
For mine I bought the extrusions, covers, drivers & LEDs all separately and built them up.

We've got an en-suite shower room about that size and it's got 5 downlights. Wife chose matt grey tiles and they seem to soak up the light and the 4W ones the builder fitted were hopeless. I got 8W units from Costco and it's just about OK in there now.If there's a bath in there mind you don't have them shining in your face while having a soak.

Tested two and it needs a third I think that would be over the bath.If there's a bath in there mind you don't have them shining in your face while having a soak.
