Does anyone have any positive experience for a wireless carplay adapter that works for an Artura or 750S?

Cable works amazing but would be nice to have the options of plugging in an adapter.

Thanks

Mark

Many existing threads on here, but this is the one I (and some others) use: https://carlinkitcarplay.com/products/carlinkit-tb...

Works flawlessly for me. I run it with a SIM and memory stick so it's completely independent of my phone, but it also does wireless Carplay and Android Auto very well.

I don't own a McLaren BUT I have always been unsure on these as tried a few and been pants.

Recently bought this and works perfect. Connects once in the car and can watch you tube etc if needed.

I ordered 4 from Amazon for my Artura and only one worked. Frustratingly, the only one that is no longer listed is that one. Let me get it from the car and see if I can find it on a different listing.....

I tried a 'simpler' Carlinkit one and it didn't work, but good to know this one does. I only wanted Carplay.

Im a bit slow when it comes to Tech stuff - but can someone explain what the point of this box is ?

I have recently bought the KKS Supercar CarPlay for my 720.

I thought the Artura was the only McLaren that came with CarPlay fitted as standard - what am I missing ?

Artura and 750S have wired-only Carplay. The box I linked does three entirely different things:

1. Allows you to connect your iPhone wirelessly and use Carplay.
2. Allows you to connect your Android phone wirelessly and use Android Auto
3. Function autonomously as an Android Auto device provided you install a working SIM

I use approach 3 with my 750. I have tested approach 2 and it works well. I can't speak to approach 1 directly as I'm not a fruit cultist, but others have testified that it works.

Ok, so basically allows you to have bluetooth connection to the cars headset ?

I have both wired and BT functionality with the KKS set up, whilst I have hardly used the car since recent purchase I find in general a decent few hours using Waze will significantly drain the phone so prefer wired set up as in my daily anyway.

I had an older carlinkit on a car, doesn’t work with the latest iPhones as they are too fast for it and it freezes. Just something to be aware of. Worked fine with previous iPhones.

Had the same one as 964Cup for 6 months and it's still working perfectly.
I put a sim card in it so the car had its own phone, tried Giff Gaff first which was pretty poor then went with 3 which has been great.

I'm non-techy and did need 964's help in setting it up but it's been trouble free since.

Hi John, I haven't spent enough time with it to give a useful opinion to someone spending £1k, however its in the car and it does work, I need to have another look at the set up as I could only get sound from the phone (turn left turn right etc) Im told By Thorney that I need to delete the phone and start again, I am confident that it will work fine once I get a 12 year old to look at it for me :-)

My mate has just had one fitted by Thorney to his 675, again wrong time of year to give a decent feedback.

Yes I fitted it myself in a 720.

I think I'm right in saying that for a 12c - 675 the head unit needs replacing so a bit more risky, have a look on the KKS website.
A guy in the owners club supplies them which I thought was a lot better / safer than posting from the US and getting involved with import costs etc etc.

Sorry I can't be more helpful

Very helpful...

I will keep it as it is and contemplate Carplay if the rest of the car behaves!!

Main thing for me is to get through the first year with no big bills!!

I ve been chewing over this for months so I jumped in last week and called out Dan from 12k Retrofits, you can find him on Instagram, he came yesterday and fitted CarPlay on my 2019 720. He uses a package he developed himself, it has just one Chinese item the rest of it is European (unlike others) it turns out he has installed the kit on many top end cars including 918 and P1 so he knows his stuff. I ve only driven with it once and I m impressed, he s very knowledgeable also has McLaren MDS? Code reader. Cost was just under a grand fitted in my garage at my house. If anyone is wobbling on the fence this system gets my vote.

Sorry this doesn’t help OP but may help earlier model owners.

It’s in the post above, it was just under a grand for his travel and the fitting. Pm me if you want a pic as the screen has colours now that never existed before. He said he’d done plenty of Mclarens mostly 570s to date.
