Why have you closed the thread on Venezuela?

You have closed the thread discussing the situation in Venezuela, and told people to post in the Trump thread.
Why?
This is an ongoing and fast moving situation that deserves it's own thread, which covers a subject that expands well outside of what Trump does, it has the potential for this becoming a serious future subject over a substantial period of time.
It would be sensible to reverse this decision.

The situation in Venezuela does deserve its own thread, but it’s very hard to see how such a thread won’t descend into the Trump fans worshipping Trump and his actions more generally. Because none of them really care about Venezuela, but they do care very much about trumpeting how much they admire Trump. No it didn't.
Mainly because PH didn't exist in the 80s.

Well yes, but that’s pretty onerous for the mods I expect. And it doesn’t take much foresight to see that the same posters banned from the Trump thread would end up banned from a Venezuela thread for the same reasons that led to their being banned from the Trump thread. 732NM said:

Posters on that thread appear to have been banned from the Trump thread and had instead migrated to the new one. Venezuela is not Trump.Ultimately this is a free forum and it's theirs.
If people post in a way that breaks the PH rules in any thread, ban them from the thread. Shutting down such an important subject matter is the wrong choice of the two, if you want PH to be a worthwhile place to discuss politics.
