981 key disconnected anything to be concerned about?
Discussion
My 981 key wouldn’t unlock the vehicle (or boots), although the red light on the key still illuminated on any button press. Tried a brand new battery, still not working.
Spare key worked AOK.
The non-working key started the car OK, and after being in the ignition it unlocks/locks the vehicle OK again.
Anybody know why this could happen? Sign of needing a replacement, or just a random gremlin?
Cheers…
(OPC want £240 labour to diagnose, couldn’t tell me if a new key was just cheaper, although new key would need £240 labour to code anyway - thought here would be more helpful)

Try this procedure. It worked on one my 997.1 keys
To reconnect your Porsche 997 key, insert it into the ignition, turn to "ON" (don't start the engine), press and hold the lock button on the fob for a few seconds, then turn off and immediately press the lock button again to resync the remote. If it's after a battery change, this usually works; for new keys or deep issues, you might need professional PIWIS diagnostics to add the transponder to the car's system, especially for 997.2 models.
