I've just searched for news on this topic having seen a couple of posts elsewhere but not heard anything on the radio news bulletins, there are a few farming websites reporting similar to the link below along with myriad FB groups and a prepper's website.

https://www.fwi.co.uk/news/farmers-stage-midnight-...

It reminds me a bit of the fuel depot blockades in 2001.

Punishing people who'd otherwise support them isn't the way to go!

One of the farmer guys quoted seems to think UK Gov have installed an app on his iPhone and is also angry at Apple.

Not the brightest spark? https://www.facebook.com/philip.weston.18/posts/pf...

Good he has started to take an interest in politics against Labour, and is lobbying the Conservatives. Perhaps they will get given a go in Government to change things as they have not had the chance recently.

I have seen other people (including on here) suggesting 'government downloaded id app to my phone' OK it may just be people downloading wrong app by accident while pissed, and then attributing it some malevolent government agency, but I do wonder whether something actually did happen.
Of course if so it looks more like civil service error than a deep plot, but who knows?

Most likely someone has gone to do their passport or tax, done the ID check and then forgotten about the app on page 4 of their phone. Several months later they see the government logo and don’t link it mentally to HMRC or the passport office so have a moan.

Indeed. I got pushed to download some ID app to speed up the process when I was renewing my driver's licence last month. The first page that came up when I used the app said 'you are using this from a browser not an app' so I gave up with it.

I'm not exactly seeing a long queue of supporters for the farmers, which does slightly cancel out your meme.

Maybe that's because they aren't getting publicity or aren't good at generating it?

grrrrr Lefties! I'm pretty sure that most union members actually have jobs (*). That's why they're in unions.

(*) excepting members of the NUS.

Where did I mention union members? Union members with jobs - probably shirking

That was my first thought too, but I have that the ID check app and it has a similar but different appearance on screen to the one shown by angry farmer. Perhaps it is the same thing though and he just pretended to, or actually, forgot, that he had downloaded it.

You may mock, but for the 2nd week running my Mother has had toilet rolls listed as Out of stock" on her shopping delivery eek
I suspect it's more likely the picker couldn't be bothered to do a substitute with another brand. Although last week they did manage to substitute them for a large bag of chilli flavoured crisps laugh

The French public seem to support the farmers.

Over here they’re pictured as rich snobs running round in Range Rovers and the main reason why food prices are high. A tractor on the road isn’t a machine on the way to produce food, it’s just a nuisance.
