Does anyone know where I can find an exploded view / resp. drawing of the Griff dashboard. At the factory ?

My trimmer asks this tool before removing the dashboard. In his website, Trefor explains well this operation for a Chimaera. Thank in advance for you help

This is copied from another site, that I have on my harddrive, but I cannot find the original URL:

Dashboard Removal - Griffith

Not sure about the dashboard top, but one of the Fernhurst mechanics told me that to remove the dashboard you should.

1. Remove radio and cage.
2. Remove left hand most air vent, and undo and remove wing-nut that is above grill opening.
3. Undo two cross head screws above steering column at bottom of dash. You may need to drop steering column to do this.
4. It should now come out.

Haven't tried it (yet).

I have a 1992 4.3 Griff that is in the middle of a "reworking". Currently the dash, instruments, switches etc. (including the large GRP sculpture) are scattered about the house, therefore I know how to take the dash out.

To remove the dash (from the factory):
1. remove steering wheel
2. remove 2 screws below speedo/tacho
3. remove radio
4. remove radio cage (the bit that normally stays in the dash)
5. insert small hand into gap where radio was
6. undo wing nut on back of dash located to the left of hazard switch (if the left end of your dash flaps about then this wing nut is probably loose or missing)
7. liberally grease leather to avoid scratching with dash panel (I use margarine for this)
8. gently ease out panel (radio end first) be careful not to bend panel too much as "walnut" may crack (£328 from TVR)
9. label and disconnect wiring
10. disconnect vent plumbing

The GRP shell is held in place by 10mm bolts that are now visible (the only tricky ones are behind the glove box)

To take off the transmission tunnel "T" piece you must raise up the car, crawl underneath, insert above-mentioned small hand around gearbox to slacken off the handbrake locating bolts. The easy bit is undoing the bolts that are sited behind each seat that hold the top of the "T" to the body shell. Then simply lift off. . .

Sorry Clive, I had not made the connection in my mind with yourself, and the name on the bottom of the text I had.

I have just done this to replace my wooden dash for a ali one.
The datils of the below are correct appart from if you have small enough hands you can gain access to the wing nut through the left hand air vent.
You should not have to disconnect and label the wiring loom as there is two back junction box's that you use to unclip the loom from each other.
What I did is take a load of photo's using a digi cam so you have some record then of where everything goes.
Rather than using butter etc for protecting the leather i used masking tape with a bit of butter on it this ment I was protecting the leather further.
I did have a bit of trouble though with the handbrake. It says in the bible that the large nut to release the handbrake is in the transmission tunnel but it is not on my cat it was above the rear diff.
You need to take the rear right wheel off to get to the nut it also helps if you have long arms as it is situated in the middle of the car. You have to release the locking nut first then undo the other nut.
To get the centre T section out you will also have to ensure the handbreak lever is pointing up in the air.
Just take care whilst lifting the centre T section as there are a lot of electrical equipment under the heater control dash which you will have to undo.
I hope I have not put you off is is quite easy aslong as you take your time and think things through before removing them.
You can see the results of my dash on my profile.

Thanks to all for your help.

In fact, I am also looking for dashboard diagrams and if possible some pictures of the remove step by step.

I think it would be more easy for my trimmer.

I have to say that the importateur advises me against calling on a trimmer who has not the know-how to do this job in the state of the art. He prefers to send directly the car to the factory for a complete retrim.

What do you think ? Have you experienced a complete retrim ?

Tks

I have recently changed out the dash and htr panel on my 500 griff, the instructions are correct, as regards the htr panel I found the easiest way was to release the rear calipers completly , then the handbrake can go in the vertical position, allowing the panel to be removed.
One thing the LEDs will not come out the old panel very easily so have a spare set ready to be soldered in. 10 pounds from TVR blackpool and a free cup of coffee and the prettiest stores person I have ever see!!
The LEDs are polarity conscientious so connect them in the correct way first time. By the way the pistons in the calipers screw back in to allow refitting of the pads. Good luck and it is worth it mine looks a million dollars with new wood dash in . Hope all goes well

I agree having seen the people at the factory cover this part. There are no diagrams that I have ever seen.

If you want it ... get it from the TVRCC direct 01952 770635. They will be the first to get it. As for the wheels comment... very confused.
