I wondered if anyone had experience of fitting their own idcore to a 2013+ Vantage with Garmin unit? I picked one up on a Black Friday deal, fitted it and it was DOA so I sent it back. They replaced but I haven't had the time or bravery to try again.

They claim its "plug and play" and the instructions only tell you to unplug the main plug from the Garmin unit and then daisy chain it with the idcore. Yet the idcore also has wires for AUX and then there's a USB lead that I'd ideally like to use. So how does one wire all that in?

I did wonder if there's a fitter or dealer who would take pity on me and let me pay them to fit, if you know of any option there that'd be good too (actually probably ideal, save my bravery pills for something else).

If anyone knows how to connect anything to a VH Aston it'd be Aston Installations. But, while they are great guys, as modifying Astons to use Carpay is part of their core business they might be a bit reluctant to help fit an alternative solution.

All you could do is ask

I think it would be beyond any cheekiness I could muster to ask them to fit a competing system! Thanks for the idea tho.

Found this a while back when I was looking at options - it's a Rapide so location of the Garmin unit is different, but will give you a sense of what they do with the USB & Aux.

Maybe try shooting them an email?

Not a 2013+ Vantage, but I did install an IDCORE unit into my 2016 Vanquish Volante with Garmin. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/aston-martin/4...

The USB cable supports wired CarPlay and was needed to establish the initial connection and wireless CarPlay setup by plugging the phone into it to initiate pairing.

The AUX cable connects to the AUX input which is in the armrest cubby on he Vanquish. Don't know where that might be on your Vantage. I also received a microphone with cable that plugs into the IDCORE unit to support Siri.

The instructions that came with my unit were rudimentary but explained setup well enough. Support from Unique Auto Developments, where I got mine from, was good.

Unique Auto Developments are a subsidiary of IDCore.
