Clear glass in a L405 post-facelift seems impossible to find

Was clear glass an option for the later L405s?
Yes. Mine has it. I recall seeing another, but they re not at all common. IIRC, the dealer asked if I was sure that I really wanted it (privacy may even have been standard/no cost on the Autobiography).

The tint is really not that noticeable from the inside. I guess the reason clear glass was advised against as it looks like the tint is between the two panes of glass, so probably a PITA to build the odd one without.
If I'm wrong and it isn't sandwiched, then surely it can just be peeled off?

It wasn t advised against (well, not for anything other than resale). I d be stunned if the factory privacy glass was a peelable film. If I'm wrong and it isn't sandwiched, then surely it can just be peeled off?
ETA: MrsLT recalls the conversation with the sales chap. Apparently privacy glass was standard on the Autobiography so it needed a conscious decision to get clear.
