Hey guys & gals,

Is there such a thing as a 'non-loadable' offence?

Ya see the thing is, i was stopped driving a courtesy car and the police did me for having a tyre below the legal limit. They gave me three points and a fine!!

Anyway, can this alter my insurance? Ive been told that an insurance company cant load my premium for this type of offence??

They can load your premium for any trumped-up reason they see fit, that's the type of people they are.

Shop around, every insurance company is different. Check confused.com next time you insure. They certainly quoted me happy. Usually six points is when many companies start to take interest.

As Ian says - you have to shop around. Most insurance companies these days seem not to load at 3 points as this appear a norm due to scammers I am apparently in minority with the clean licence but mad Doc uund self do not get discount I think we should! on top of the small discount for IAM etc

But as for the logistic of your getting done for dodgy tyre on courtesy car. You are driver und thus bloke in charge of car - und your repsonsibility to apply POWER to every car you drive whether yours or not. If you hire car und they have not maintained it und ut have some faulty part - like no screen wash or a low tread - ist your licence which get the points. Ist why when they give me check list on the initial hire - I prowl around car with own check list und if not satisfied I refuse to hire that car until I am - und I also point out defects und suggest they fix before hire to another ... It does not go down very well with the man behind counter when "slip of a girly" tell him about defect in car

There should really be some kind of legislation to ensure that hire car companies hire out cars which are fit for purpose of transaction und in good owrking order at time of hire or courtesy. After all - all hell ist let loose if car return with a defect presumably...

Mrs autismuk got done for 51 in a 40 a month or two ago ; the insurance company will not accept this 'conviction' (though when I got one a year ago they weren't bothered).

I suspect they will have to stop that particular cherrypick as more and more people get scammed.

Anyone know what percentage of the population has been done ?

Probably most. I've had 12 points (total) in my driving career.

But I'd imagine that probably about 30% currently have valid points on their licences. Just a guess though.
