Doors not locking - 97 Chimera 450

I'm having an issue with my 97 Chimera 450 not locking. The Fob locks the doors and the alarm sets but the car then unlocks itself straight away.

Before this issue started, i was driving along and could hear what a assume is a solenoid clicking like you haven't shut the door properly. The door was closed correctly, but i opened the door and closed it again which stopped the solenoid clicking. This happened a few times throughout yesterday, and only seemed to happen when i was setting off. After 5 mins it would then stop and not happen again throughout the journey

When i arrived at each destination, i then couldn't lock the car. After opening and closing both doors 3 or 4 times the car would then lock.

Central locking button on the knob inside the car was disconnected before i owned the car.

Any ideas?

Check the switches set in the sills.
Sometimes they don't push in far enough when door is closed.

The switches (not really 'micro,' bigger than that) in the door sills may not be making properly. I once had a Chimaera where there was only 10V present there, never solved it.

A sticky pad on the door may help ensure it makes. IF you open a door, and push in the plunger on the switch, you may get an audible clunk as the car thinks the door has closed.

One earlier cars the micro switches would (from the factory) have a piece of rubber adhered to the door to 'push' the door switch in, later cars have a plastic pop-it inner riveted onto the door (a really short rivet). The adhered version in most cases will simply fall off and a new piece of rubber will need to be stuck on. Obviously setting up the door pins is critical to the cars basic security. There is a simple test (not a good idea to post it here). A@

TVRSSW do replacement switches for a very reasonable price.

I ended up finally replacing mine after taking them apart and cleaning them up a few times, as they had been chattering.
Might be worth popping them out first though to see if they will clean up, they are very basic objects.
Then you can assess how well the door is pushing the pin in.
