It would be instructive to know something more about who the MP is, and whether them being Jewish is the reason they are not wanted. I mean, a Jewish school might not want Diane Abbott, but it wouldn’t be because she’s black.

Indeed.

It may well be true but that above is hearsay, with an unknown colleague at an unknown school with unattributed quotes etc.

Not much to go on and one side of the story.

The language is positively baroque, "his presence might inflame the teachers." Perhaps he's unusually attractive and the teachers are all simpering hormonal virgins. If they're sufficiently lacking in professionalism that they cannot greet a visitor civilly they should be invited to find alternative employment.

Quite. We have pubs refusing Labour MP's entry, some of whom may be Muslim.

Ah even handed as always, here is the other side. It is still on their Facebook page if you feel the need to check it...

If someone isn’t welcome because of their politics, that’s entirely different to them not being welcome because of their faith or ethnicity.

If the school have declined to host the unnamed MP because the people there don’t like apologists for Israel - good on them.

Yet unsurprisingly Damian is a converted Jew. His husband s faith.

So where do we start? Is this just politics or maybe anti Zionists or anti gays ? So many to choose from.

I wonder what might inflame the notionally tolerant members of that borough.

Would you have the same attitude if a Muslim MP was banned from a school for openly supporting Palestine?
Hypothetically of course as it would never happen...

Because schools should only present one side of political arguments?

No, but I would if they were openly supporting ISIS, or Boko Haram, or Hutu extremists, or apartheid South Africa, or 1930's Germany.
