Lovely white ceiling no longer :(
Discussion
Ceiling in kitchen, of which I have marveled at it's whiteness
despite being directly below the bathroom.
Absolutely fine last night but came down to this....

Only this morning.
Immediately ripped off the bath panel upstairs but underneath is as dry as a bone.
Side note, why do builders store rubbish under baths
every place I've done work on has been the same.
Ran the shower over bath along the seals and tiles but nothing.
The patches don't feel damp, they look like they've been there for years but they appeared overnight.
I've checked all the pipes and connections underneath the tub, filled the bath then drained but all is watertight.
Complete mystery to me, any ideas?

Can you look into the void between the bathroom floor and the kitchen ceiling?
Maybe a pipe in there is leaking?
Lastly, you haven’t sealed up any external holes nearby, have you? A few years back I plugged up the hole in the wall where the tv aerial cable entered my house upstairs. Next day, after a frosty night, I had water rings on my pitched bedroom ceiling where the cables ran.
Best of luck finding out.

Might be CH piping as mentioned.
Inspection cameras are a good little thing to buy now days, I bought one of these to inspect pipe work under my bathroom floor and was quite happy with it for the price, much better than using a phone one.

If it s rented then tell the landlord/ management company if its a leak, and it looks like it is , then its up to them to deal with it.
Good luck if the landlord is anything like mine
Water coming through the kitchen ceiling after a previous bodge on the bath plug assembly failed. Que another bodge and water coming through the kitchen ceiling again a few months later. Then, a few months after that, water coming through the kitchen ceiling because the pan connector at the back of the toilet had failed. Finally, water coming through the kitchen ceiling again because the pipe that carried water from the bath had disconnected from the vertical pipe that it joined onto because of a previous bodged repair.
Lesson learned. Try to avoid renting a house from the kind of person who thinks a legitimate repair is one of his mates turning up unannounced when you're in the middle of your evening meal, banging and crashing around for five minutes, then buggering off and leaving you with a ticking timebomb.
