Hi Folks

Off to a concert in the summer at Wembley and need to stay overnight. Ideally get on the tube, travel a number of stops to a hotel but my London knowledge isn’t good enough. Any suggestions please - aiming to keep costs low.

I stayed at the Premier Inn near Euston when i went to see Bruce Springsteen last year.

It wasn't particularly cheap but i think ALL hotels use surge pricing). for me it was easy to get to Wembley and also easy to get to/from Euston.

You have 2 options.

Met Line which goes Finchley Road>Baker St then along Euston/Kings X/Farringdon/Moorgate/Liverpool St. Lots of 'budget' hotels around the stations but you definitely get what you pay for.

Jubilee which take you to Baker St with more stops and then through the West End to Waterloo before following the South Bank and on to Canary Wharf and Stratford - anything before Waterloo is unlikely to meet your budget expectations.

Depending on how big the concert is, id avoid the tube after.

We waited nearly 2 hours to get on the tube after Oasis.

If you go further out, rather than into London, you'll be away much quicker and it'll be much cheaper. You can get a direct train to Rickmansworth from Wembley Park and the Premier Inn is currently showing from £47 a night

Was also going to suggest looking North of Wembley rather then south as tends to be much quicker to get a train.

Have use this approach quite a few times, but linkin park last year managed to get out the stadium and back to the car in a very decent amount of time (in the end, you do need to accept there are only so many ways of shifting 90,000 people out of a single location).

We parked on some onstreet parking on Merrion Avenue (dont think there was a charge, or if there was, it wasn't expensive) within easy walking distance of Stanmore Tube station and used the Jubilee line both way (Obviously if you are drinking thats not an option!)

Similar to Rickmansworth, stopped at Watford Croxley Green Prem in last year when seeing Guns and Roses.
Metropolitan line to Wemberley - about 40 minutes

We came down from the north - was also was outside of the ULEZ zone.
After the gig most were travelling in the other direction, got a tube easily.

I don't know if this works in practice but I've heard it suggested that people should take the tube northbound for one stop and then jump on the southbound train, to get a jump on the queues.

I have used the Premier Inn in Ruislip which is served by the Met line direct to Wembley Park but also has the Piccadilly as a Plan B to/from Sudbury Town albeit a bit of a hike at the Wembley end.

Premier Inn right next to Uxbridge station. About 20 mins on the Met Line to Wembley Park.

We did this a couple of years ago, but on the train rather than the tube.

When you leave Wembley after a concert, there are lanes to go in to get on trains.

You can take the Chiltern Train to Rickmansworth. The Premier Inn is a short walk, it was newly built a few years ago.

There is no direct route on the Chiltern Line between Wembley Stadium or Wembley Park stations and Rickmansworth.
