In a sleepy town in West Sussex, walking down the high street I heard sirens looked around and I'm sure I saw this

Is crime getting this bad in the UK now ?

Ironic that the MET might be deploying Israeli built armoured cars against palestinian supporters

Speculative (and why capitalise Israeli and not Palestine? Plus, I think you may mean 'Palestinian Action' supporters.

Possibly, but it's seen more as a Lib Dem place at the moment. The MP is Lib Dem, while 25 out of 36 councillors on the district council are Lib Dems too.

WTF? The govt will spooge quarter of a million on each of them, they'll never be used and will be sold for a song 10 years from now after they've cost a fortune in maintenance and training for drivers who will never drive them. At least those water cannon Johnson wasted money on had a purpose.

You squandered a great opportunity to say nothing.

That is not what I said, it bears no resemblance to what I said. It's also wildly inaccurate, but you knew that.

The Jankels that are being retired are all on 54/55 plates and got used a lot more than you'd think. They are all now absolutely knackered and well past their best.

These will be used for the next 20 years and when compared to the cost of the average Public Order Carrier or even some specialist vehicles with far shorter service lives are pretty good value for money.

They'll be used for a lot of roles across London, firearms deployments (sieges for example or when the Iranians threatened the independent press, they used Jankels for that too), large scale disorder and just about any other event they can justify their deployment.

Compared to some of the crap other forces have purchased, these are a good buy.

Why would we? For 18 units every ten years?
