From my company car list these 2 options interest me the most.

Unfortunately I'm only able to get the standard version of the model y. Doesn't seem a huge difference between the standard and the premium though. However I've just been looking into the IM6 which looks like you get a great lot of car internally for the same price as a Tesla.

Anyone driven or had experience of the IM6? It's the quickest charging EV out there in the market now. Bigger range then the Tesla Standard....just the supercharger network sounds like it's so much more convenient if you have the Tesla.

Tesla Standard v IM6 which would you go for?

If you're going to be charging away from home then the charging network and integration of navigation and charging software becomes a big deal.

I have no idea what the situation is like for the non-tesla driver... Many will point out that there are more charging points than gas pumps. They may also note that there are reliable networks that they personally use frequently. Occasionally although it's getting less common, you will hear wailing, moaning and even a bit of wringing of hands about some charging road trip nightmare when the phone wouldn't connect, or the chargers wouldn't function or had been vandalised. Public charging with a tesla is a non-issue.

If you're doing a lot of long trips, good to check ABPR estimated.

Where I live (Central Europe), IM6 would seem to be a no-brainer. I presume that 800V system would have a flatter charge curve, so you will get fast charge even if the battery is not almost empty.

What will be your regular usage?

From reviews, the IM6 will charge quickly but it's also not very efficient.

The Tesla charging network is second to none, utterly foolproof, reliable and just works with minimum fuss.

Faster charging tends to be a theoretical thing than a practical one as many charge points, Tesla included, don't always deliver the promised rates.

Personally, unless you'll be rapid charging once a week or more, I'd completely ignore the charger network and speed and go with the car you prefer.

I believe Europe now have a Tesla LR RWD Standard as well as a LR RWD Premium option, and that might be coming to the UK soon, so if your budget allows it might be worth waiting for that if you prefer the Tesla option.

On the continent, the network is probably already a clear second to this: https://chargeleague.com/ (two of those pretty much foolproof in my own experience).

Not sure if MG has the charge card option, I think most manufacturs offer one which covers basically everything that is not Tesla (close to a million chargers - AC and DC - with a single RFID card).

UK might be a different story.

Is the "plug n charge" certificate activate on the im6? Does tesla have these?

Tesla is your safe, proven option. Standard range may or may not affect your usage. Tesla charging network really is foolproof. Tesla maintenance support is good too, but you probably won’t need it.

I have no experience of the IM6.

As a non Tesla driver some of the Tesla charging facilities are open to non Tesla cars. If I am public charging I will typically be able to find a Tesla charger and whilst they are not the fastest for non Tesla cars they are pretty reliable. I’m a car with a decent range you are normally not to far away from a decent option for charging when required.

Could you just get a test drive in each, then decide?

When I last checked a few months ago, roughly 50% of the Tesla charging network is now open to other EVs.
