Accident damage!

Hi all,

Alhough I am NOT considering repairing a Chimaera for the resale value, it has crossed my mind that it will be difficult to sell later down the line.

I have seen several people in this forum advising that people should not buy one that has been repaired, which is perfectly resonable advise.

Does any one have any idea how much value will be lost just by the fact that the car has Cat D on the documents?

I haven't bourght a car (YET) although I have been looking around for a while and obviously don't want to make the mistake of buying, one repairing it and finding out that I should have bought one which had not been bent (or should i say cracked) for the same price or less.

A lot will depend on the extent of the damage and how professional the repair is. I reckon you'd be looking at around 25% off the price of a non-cat car in the same condition, assuming the repair is a good one.

I'd say 25-30%, plus more limited market when you want to sell.

Good option if you're after a car as a project (mods, track car etc).
