This doesn't seem to have made the news to any great extent, at least outside London. It occurred at the end of November and some council services such as the planning department have been virtually wiped out and no longer function. To make matters worse some of the data/on-line services is shared with adjoining councils such as Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham. I'm an architect and practice almost exclusively in these London boroughs and my work is starting to be seriously impacted now.

The news I'm receiving is that things may not return to normal until summer.

Is anyone else impacted by this?

Don't know much about this one, but I know parts of TFL still aren't operating correctly from their attack in Sepetember 24. They aren't critical things, more convenience issues, but they haven't fixed everything over a year later.

I do remember seeing this in the tech press.

Unfortunately, this sort of attack is only going to get more and more frequent, and public services are probably in the worst possible place - with vulnerable old systems, lack of IT security expertise, inability to pay for such expertise or to upgrade systems to something safer.

Also the old chestnut of no one thinking about backups or disaster recovery until half a second after they suddenly need them.

Also heard that RBK&C are not able to respond to property search requests from conveyancing solicitors which is preventing property sales.
