Hello all

Think I have given myself LPR.

I always have to clear my throat. Way way worse after eating and drinking.

Have been taking gaviscon everyday and also omezaprole( ppi) .

Its been about 3 weeks now and is better but taking a long long time

Any tips ?

Im currently the fattest ive ever been at 6 foot and 88kg. But I wouldn't say overweight really

Its been months and months of eating rubbish. Fizzy drinks. Caffiene downing and a bit too much alchohol with eating late.

Diet has been cleaned up since this with much less rubbish etc but it seems damage has been done.

Apparently the acid reflux can damage your throat area which is the need to keep clearing it.

I would of assumed 3 weeks ish would be enough to heal .

Being fat relative to your previous weight won’t help. Nor will your diet. Perhaps try cleaning up the latter, which will address the former. See where you are then.

But you don’t want acid reflux.

I have similar. Bad enough so that when I take my medication it just sits in my gullet. Can cause serious breathing issues. I’ve quit drinking, lost weight and avoid fizzy drinks, too much pastry and spicy food. Doesn’t make much difference. The doctor offered a test, but I’d have to lay off the meds for two weeks, which I’m not prepared to do, due to the breathing thing. So a bit stuck.

It's annoying. I get it sometimes. Certain foods can trigger it more eg dairy, chocolate, coffee, hot curry. I'm not fat fwiw. I've been for tests and come back clear... for now.

Sounds a bit like what I had -silent acid reflux or LPR, which tends to happen when sleeping so you re not aware. I used to cough a lot and in the shower in the morning cough up white foamy spit. It came to a head and made me seek attention privately when my ears became really painful and swallowing sounded really crunchy sounding in my ears. I think a side effect of it is blockage or build up of fluid in the inner ear. It can t drain out of some ear canal into the back of your throat.

Consultant threaded a camera probe up my nose and down my throat, I could see it on screen. All looked good so he reckoned it was reflux and gave me I think it was 4 months course of Omeprazole. He said it would take a good few months to knock it on the head. That was a few years ago and it s worked but occasionally recently it s flairing up again.

I repeat the advice to seek medical attention.

You drink 2 litres of carbonated drink a day? With sugar or artificial sweeteners that insane. No wonder your insides are hurting. I drink milk, diluted juice and water mainly but I’d say coffee and alcoholic drinks would be the ones to aggravate my symptoms.
