Which one is it better to go for and why? BMW say they only take you to bmw garages whereas RAC/AA can take you anywhere depending on cover. What do you recommend? Car will be under extended warranty

IF it's under extended warranty, IMO, makes sense to keep it with BMW Roadside Assist

I get too good a deal for stand alone so I exclude BMW Roadside.

If I had nothing in place I'd use it.

On the face of it, the BMW assist should be seamless - collect you and the car, drop you at your BMW dealer and be booked in for a repair.

If the AA pick up and drop off the car at your house, you’ll still have to get the thing from there to the garage to be fixed…

I have the BMW Assist option on my extended warranty (about £7/month more IIRC) as it covers my European jaunts as well.

I find AA and RAC too expensive/restrictive for their European cover (my other cars are now 20+ years old) - and even trying to add it onto my bank account breakdown cover the extra is punitive.

that's a good point on the older cars, many of the mainstream won't touch cars below 14 or 15 years now.
