Replace hot water tank thermostat
Discussion
I am pretty sure my thermostat is dead. Its not clicking at all. Only way to get the water to heat the last 2 days is to move the zone valve over manually which sends hot water into the coil.
Its this

First dumb question - I assume I can just remove this and no water will leak? I am assuming it just sits in a recess in the cylinder?
Second dumb question - I would ideally like to replace with a digital version.
Would this work?

The wires meet in a junction box on the floor so I can isolate using the fuse spur and then just replace with wiring like for like?
Cheers

By pushing in the button behind the cap? I have done this a few times, it does nothing. However tapping on the housing.... that eventually gets it to click - then it seems to work ok for a couple of days.
I was just checking that you knew there was a reset behind the cap.Yes you can just remove the old stat no water involved and I see no reason the digital one would not be suitable.
