Alarm won't stop - Help urgently

It has been a while, haven't posted here for ages, still miss driving my Chim down the A3 etc all the way to the coast at Littlehampton for golf, but now I am in sunny Oz, with a baby (human as well as the car :)) and of course, i don't drive it much now...

But enough of that, the battery is completely dead, got the Aussie AA out after a long chat about the car, he jump started the car, starts OK, but the alarm is all confused and no matter what I do, i can't get the alarm off even though the car is running... After stuffing around for a bit, I have let the charge run out of the battery with the back up siren now sounding very sick but still managing a small noise some 8 hours on...

Being in OZ makes it obviously a little more tricky than where you all are, but can anyone recommend anything to help? It did this when it first came off the shipping container but the car never started until the alarm was off...

Its a 98 Chim updated model.

Disconnect the plug leading in the front grill that connects to the siren. You'll then have to wait while the internal battery runs down. This is a common fault usually caused by water getting into the siren. Normally it destroys the siren unit so be prepared to buy a replacement. They are available from dealers.

I would take the battery off the car, charge it up for a day, make sure it's still good and then put it back.

At that point see if you still have a problem you may not have.

Give it another three or four hours and it will give up, its just the internal battery as previously posted
