Hello everyone, I’m MrsRiseup, in October 2024, my partner was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment to serve 30 months.

He posted a topic relaying some thoughts back then;

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

He had the idea of asking me to post on his behalf and to put my side of the journey across too. So, feel free to ask me any questions or Riseup and I’ll pass those along when we chat later tonight on the phone.

It’s been an incredibly hard period of time, I had not accounted for just how much I’d miss him in my daily life, I mean, I knew I would but not on the scale that I do. It took nearly 3 months to be approved to visit him in person which was hard.

We have a fairly good routine now and obviously time is going quicker for one of us than the other.

Hopefully I can answer a few of your questions.

Ellie.

Bizarre that he s in prison and he s asked his wife to post on PH. So bizarre I almost don t believe any of it at all. He also said you two had broken up and you were the ex and now you miss him so much.

This was also my first reaction. Odd.

It was a white collar crime mentioned in the other thread but no details.

He is half way through if he is serving 30 months now? Out June 27?

Is he now in one of the prison farms he mentioned in the other thread?

You’re mistaking me for his ex wife. They separated in 2020, we met in 2022.

What’s wrong with me posting for him? Are girls not allowed? And why wouldn’t he want extra things to write about to help with boredom?

April 2027 he’ll be eligible for parole, the parole board will decide whether he’s ready for release towards the end of this year.

And yes, he’s now at a farm, he was in maximum for 6 months with 21 hour lockdowns and he was relieved to get to the farm last April where it’s a lot more relaxed atmosphere and no where near the levels of violence and strict procedures. It’s actually a beautiful part of the country, he’s extremely lucky to be there, I think roughly only 200 prisoners there.

Has he found a love of bum sex yet? Top or bottom?

Are drugs rife in prisons over there?

What sort of farm is he on?

He was convicted of fraud via deception. He lost a lot of money that was trusted to him. I didn’t know him during the offending period, I can only imagine what that period looked like based off what he’s told me and what I heard in court. What I do know is he’s a good man who thought he could fix a problem without worrying others and instead allowed it to snowball to something far bigger than anticipated. In the 4 years I’ve known him, he has still yet to forgive himself and I personally think that is his biggest roadblock. Things can’t be undone and when he’s released he’ll have served his punishment and I am hoping that he can find peace and begin the 2nd part of his life guilt free.

I’ll ignore the juvenile question, yes drugs are rife in prison, way more than he expected.

It’s a cattle farm that prisoners maintain, they are free from 6.30am until 6.30 pm when they are locked in their units. The biggest differences from secure maximum prison is fresh cooked food daily, single cells after a period of roughly 2 months, ability to move around the farm freely when not working.

Was there a big impact on any victims? If so have they forgiven him?

Sounds like you are, and will be, a great help to him when he gets out smile

It's not Ted Crilly is it?

Does he feel his sentence was fair?

There were victim impact statements read during his sentencing hearing, they were rightfully angry and felt aggrieved, two people said they’d never forgive him whilst several others had emailed long before sentencing saying that they did. One individual who didn’t actually lose money but still decided to press charges claimed he had suffered mental health issues from the trust being abused.

Be a Pistonheads classic if the OP’s white collar fraud turned out to be was of the SOR dealers that collapsed having sold customers cars, not told them and ended up owing everybody money.

No idea who that is.

He feels the head sentence of 9 years was steep but to only serve 2.5 years was roughly what he was expecting. He was told upon arrival to maximum he’d be at the farm in a few weeks and indeed his lawyer advised the same thing. How or why it took 6 months is unclear. 21 hour lockdowns and frequently weeks where he had spend 44 hrs in the cell with another person including toilet and shower were his hardest so far.

What was his motivation, drugs, debt, gambling?

As I’ve mentioned, I didn’t know him during the time so I can only relay information he’s told me and what I’ve learnt myself.

I know it evolved into gambling and his desire to hide the trouble he knew he would be in. Like many gamblers, he thought he could find a way out and instead made the situation infinitely worse.
