Where I live has been Conservative since before the dinosaurs roamed. I'm not sure who she thinks she is to change parties just because she wants to, that shouldn't change which party our MP belongs to, it should just mean a new MP is put in her place and she loses her seat.
How can voters kick out their MP? This is totally un-democratic.

You can't unless they are suspended from parliament or commit certain offences.

For any MP to change party, given the voters elect them on a party basis..
Except they elect the person, not the party. People forget this is how the system works. Regret after the fact that you elected an idiot due to the colour of their rosette is a bit late.A bit like they forget that they don't elect a Prime Minister, they just get one from whichever party gets enough votes.

At this rate, the Tories almost look electable.
Shift Badenoch along for Mel Stride
Badenoch's OK. Shift Badenoch along for Mel Stride
Gove was on R4 the other morning and while I don't like the guy he made the point that Reform are already starting to look a bit old and stale, whereas Kemi's Conservatives are increasingly looking like the 'fresh breeze blowing through Westminster' (is I think how he put it). All the Tories in Reform are the ones I didn't like.

Gove can spin it how he likes. The Tory right have now all gone over to Reform and the split is final. It is rather historic in a way. They split before over the Corn laws and now have done so over globalisation. No way back now and the two sides no longer belong in the same parties.

Is this a blinder to make Reform unelectable?
If it's the same muppets who ran the country for the last 12 years, how can they reform anything?

Thirded, can't see this working, she's very closely associated with total failure on immigration when in power.
Yes but why did it fail? She was pretty right wing in her views on immigration but was stymied at every turn. People who want a much more draconian policy on immigration (eg me) might think it’d be a good thing to have her in a government that might get things done. Dog Star said:

Yes. The question is which side will survive. The Tories are very good at surviving. And Reform remind me in some ways of the SDP. Not sure where I'd put my vote, I'm sort of somewhere between the two. Will have to do some more research. It is rather historic in a way.
