What did I just see land at Manchester Airport?

I was just driving around the airport, as the route through the runway tunnels was closed. I was heading east along Ringway Road West / Manchester Airport Relief Road.
As I was coming up to the runway, a plane landed in the direction shown below.
The time was somewhere between 22:45 and 22:48 on Tuesday 27th of January.
The plane was grey, shorter than an airliner, with a pointed nose; it looked military.
Can any clever person give me an idea what it could have been.
I only caught a brief glimpse, and my view was particularly blocked.
