Bank holiday holidays
Discussion
These do my brain in, I've kinda ignored double-checking on this, but now a junior member of staff is in a similar position and has asked me to clarify for her.
Basically, if Monday is your regular day off, do you get any extra holiday in lieu of the many bank holidays you miss?
I can find internet stuff that says if it's your day off normally, tough - which is fine if this is the case (altho another reason this is not the best place to work ever)... but then other bits that say companies need to treat part-time staff the same as full time so should give something pro-rata... I'm confused!
If it helps, I work Tues-Fri, Mondays off, the place is closed weekends, my contract says I am "entitled to 24.3 days holiday per year (equivalent to 5.6 weeks/28 days pro rata for full time employment), inclusive of bank and public holidays" and then lists the usual ones.

Looking first at the full time allowance - 28 days looks suspiciously like 20 days actual holiday + 8 days for statutory bank holidays. If that is the case, then your 24.3 days / year is pretty much bang on the money.
On the other hand, if a full time person gets 28 days holiday and then bank holidays on top, then you're being diddled.
I suspect it's the former.

That is straight forward then, the FTE 28 days is 20+8. Therefore there will be nothing extra if you are not normally working on a PH. Look on the bright side, most FTE employees have 8 days pre-defined, you get more flexibility as you can take the hours of the PH days allowance whenever you want for Monday PHs.Basically, if Monday is your regular day off, do you get any extra holiday in lieu of the many bank holidays you miss?

At my last job there were two teams that would alternate between Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday, then there were others that only worked Monday to Friday.
If you were working Tuesday to Saturday and it fell after a bank Holiday you had the Tuesday off otherwise you were working an extra day over everyone else and wouldn't be paid for it as we were on salary.
