settle a work discussion, for which AI is not helping, but is there another common phrase similar to appointment to view tv?

I'm struggling with what you mean.

Could you expand on what sort of thing that is?

TV shows where you have to schedule when you want to watch them? As opposed to either broadcast TV or on demand services?

Council TV.
That's pretty close I would say.

Appointment-to-view TV refers to programs that viewers must watch live to participate in the cultural conversation surrounding them, rather than catching up later. This type of television creates a shared experience among viewers, often leading to discussions and social gatherings around the show.
To me that is a description of the stuff that I actively avoid. e.g.: Strictly, Traitors, The Jungle Thing, The Island Thing... you get the idea.

Council Telly.

You make an appointment to go round someone else's house to watch their TV?

Could be a nice side hustle.

Thought it was appointment viewing not appointment to watch TV.

I'm not sure what 'appointment viewing' means. I'm thinking is it something you have to book a time in advance? I'm not sure what the op means. I'm not sure what 'mandellaring' is either.

One doesn't need a synonym, one merely need speak to one's host and ask to reserve the BBC channel for the evening to allow one to view whatever televisual feast it happens to be.

On a serious note, possible synonyms are:

Screen date

Aye, TV

Spirit of the Sky

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for 'Crossroads'

Alone-y with the Sony

Toshiba, you've got to see her.
