Samsung Galaxy Flip 7

I have a 5 year old Galaxy A32. Its slow and the camera is always out of focus.

I was thinking about a Pixel 10 / 9 Pro.

However I have seen the flip 7 and I must say for my use it might be a good solution.

I would buy a used one from one of the big refurbishes most likely.

Tech usually lasts me a long time as I am a light user and am generally careful with my devices - for example I have never used a screen protector. I can see my using the front screen most of the time. I dont game or scroll, I send texts and maybe the odd email and google something if I am out. Everything else I use a laptop.

My main concern is the fold / screen. Are they as delicate as people say?

I mean other than that it looks to be a perfect phone?

Given that there's nothing better than my current S24U on the market, I might just buy a Flip7 outright to see how it is with the S24 as a backup if it fails.

I have a flip 7 and had a flip 6 before that. I love the form factor and it fits my pockets much better than a full form phone. The Flip 7 is much nicer than the 6 and, so far, the screen has been perfect. The only downside is that I think the camera is not as good as my older S22

All folding screens are plastic so not as tough as a 'normal' phone, which is a mix of glass and plastic. However, it is just as responsive and won't ever crack, for obvious reasons. The screens are not as tough (hard) as glass but they don't need to be, especially as they are folded inside when not in use.

I've had Samsung folding phones for 5 years now (Fold 3 and 6) and the screens have been perfect. Like you I don't use screen protectors or any type of case, I'm just careful.

I've have a Fold 4 - Screen failed twice, currently a Honor V3 fold - Currently on it's 2nd screen.

I treat all these phones as normal phones, so taken to the beach, out cycling etc, the point of having the phone is flexibility of a big screen any where you are in the world, and it does honestly make replying to email/reading documents on the go so much easier. Used like any other phone in the real world they are absolutely not as reliable as slab phone, however for me the productivity element means I'm still willing to put up with screen failures. Once the screen on the Honor dies later this year I'll probably get a Fold 8 (or similar).

The Flip I suspect is similar, however you would hope Samsung is getting close to getting these things more reliable, though I think on. I might get a Flip for my wife to replace her Note 20, as the folded size difference is substantial without sacrificing usable screen size that much.

However I think so far to date only the current Google Pixel Fold has a full IP68 rating, which means in theory taking it to the beach wouldn't kill it due to sand/dust getting in the hinge.

I've had a Samsung Z Flip 7 since it was released in July 2025. I was coming from an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I've had no issues with the phone at all and I must open and close it around 100+ times a day!

The best thing is the size means its so easy to carry in your pocket and handle compared to a slab phone. Once I open it up, I have the full size screen (6.7") that I had previously on the Apple iPhone Pro Max.

You can also do so much on the 4" outer screen like respond to messages, watch YouTube videos, take selfies with the main cameras, etc.

The Gemini AI built in is great as well.

One of the most satisfying ownership things is opening and closing the phone to answer and end calls. Feels like I'm back in the mid 2000s with my Motorola V3 Razr.

You can add Gemini to any phone as an app. Got it on my iPhone.

Exact same situation for me. S24 Ultra has been treating me very well but it is a big brute of a phone, I've a magbak case which does highlight it's squareness, can make fitting in certain jeans pockets etc a bit of a pest.

I plan on getting a flip or potentially a RAZR ultra and keeping the S24U for photography (I use it for work, mostly property photographs).

I'd ideally love a fold but I can't justify the cost of it. I've now got a tablet that I use at home so browsing less and less on my phone & the flip ticks a lot of boxes.

I hope one day Samsung figure out a foldable with space for the ultra cameras or somewhere close to them as that's my main hold back at the moment.

Having second thoughts after reading some of the reviews online, mostly issues with the screen obviously.
I would need it to last 5+ years to justify the cost - but a lot of people seem to upgrade these flip phones every year or two.
I am going to hang fire for a few weeks and maybe back to looking at the Pixel 10.

The reason I keep buying Foldables is because for me they are a massive productivity tool. The cameras on them are fine, but their main design feature is the massive screen which essentially is almost like having an iPad mini anywhere. When you add in a good Megasafe stand you essentially have a portable office anywhere.

I also use an iPad Pro alot when traveling between sites and at face to face meetings because it's easier than a laptop but I can live without the iPad but not the Foldable. The other bit for me is the fact the Foldable works as a phone unlike a iPad or Laptop, I probably spend a hour on it as a phone everyday either in the car or handheld.

I've simply accepted these things are just another consumable needed for work, when they break (and they always do) I just get another one. I've got a good routine worked out now. Have a Pixel 10 Pro for weekend (to reduce use of the Foldables), also it means when I send the Foldables off for screen replacements I'm not left without a phone.

The screen on the current one is coming up to 12 months old, I expect it to fail some time in the summer.....I get about 18 months out of these things before they die.

Give if time, make sure you have looked at the warranty claim clauses, sometimes the manufacturers.will try and claim 'physical damage' as a way to get out of the warranty. It's not a IF with these things and screen failures surrently but WHEN.

IP68 rating might change this, but the Samsung Foldables aren't dust proof, so dust/sand will get into the hinge and kill it over time.

This is me. Ive also an 24 Ultra, had it for 2 years, and i would like a folding phone, but the camera is the clincher.

I've tried foldables (and flippables) a couple of times over the past couple of years and have always gone back to the iPhone.

I like the idea but recently bought an iPad Mini and it's no bother having that in my bag so I 'flip' between the two.

I didn't like the plasticky screens and they were definitely breakages waiting to happen.

I won't go into the UI experiences over the Apple as it's largely irrelevant here. However, it does look like Apple will be releasing a folding phone at some point soon so I'd quite happily give it another shot as and when.

Another S24U owner here. I've had an Oppo Find X9 Pro for a month, and it's truly a step beyond the S24. three-day battery life and an amazing camera system. Samsung has a lot of catching up to do.
