51. Divorced. No job. £1,000,000

Depends whether you want to work or not work.
Depends where the £1m is, in terms of tax wrapper (ISA/SIPP) or general cash/investments.
Depends if you also own your own home.
Depends whether you've already made provision for retirement.
Depends on your anticipated level of monthly outgoings.
The bottom line IMO is that £1m is either "a lot" or "not a lot" depending on your hopes and dreams.

Very late age
Someone's fishing.
On the of chance this isn't a wind up then if there's no kids that could almost be construed as a dream scenario.
Money across a few funds and drawdown 5% or so, buy suitable go anywhere vehicle and just do one for the rest of my life.
200 countries, get set, go.

I'm 51. In that positon I'd buy a modest house in my favourite spot in Cornwall (about £300k), stick the rest somewhere safe and spend my time painting after the style of the late Cornwall-based artist John Miller - the kind of pics that holidaymakers want to buy - and also having them made into postcards, prints, etc., which is where the bulk of the income would be.
Don't care about making more money. Just living modestly, doing what I love, where I love.

Just money on the bank and a basic state pension if I keep contributing.

Absolutely not fishing. I genuinely do like this answer as it fills many of my dreams.

Not sure if brave enough to commit to the future without a partner

It is funny. I probably ended up in this predicament just because I really hate the UK and hated my boring life just before 50.Plenty of countries with golden visas when you ve got more than 500k

This, all day long. And travel, see the world, but avoid doing so on business class and in luxury hotels. You'll get more from it too getting your feet dirty and at a slower pace. I'm 51. Investing you and your kids - (you are retired so have time)
Find somewhere, something simple and rebuild.
Life is not over, and the part above about without a partner - you can t click a finger to gain that. Trust it may or can happen.
Make life simple. Rebuild
This makes a lot of sense, but it is quite an unusual situation to have a reasonable amount of money but to start your entire life againFind somewhere, something simple and rebuild.

Obviously, locations and tastes may strew the numerate aspect, but principle and priorities remain the same.
I made a pledge to myself to ‘be happy’ - yes a bit woowoo or happy clappy, but a general direction, priority, you could have worse.
The way the reference to your children is made, suggests a bit of an effort may make huge rewards.
